Business Wire, June 11, 1996

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 11, 1996 -- Tivoli Systems, the leading vendor of network computing management solutions, today announced the appointment of Chris Grafft as senior vice president of business development. This new position launches a powerful drive toward the development of business partnerships, as well as merger and acquisition and technology licensing activities.

Grafft's responsibilities are at the heart of Tivoli's objective to continue to attract third-party support for TME 10 (Tivoli Management Environment), Tivoli's end-to-end management solution for network computing environments. Tivoli is committed to developing an industry that extends and surrounds TME 10, thereby establishing it as the de facto standard and starting point for network computing management for organizations in a variety of markets. Grafft's activities will also support Tivoli's goal to offer best-of-breed products in all major system management disciplines, while providing the strong leadership required to complete Tivoli's product matrix.

"We're looking for much of our future growth and industry acceptance to emerge from Chris' efforts, both directly and indirectly," said Frank Moss, president and CEO of Tivoli Systems. "Given Chris' background with Tivoli and his strong knowledge of our market, I am confident he will be able to attract the leading third parties to license our TME 10 technology, and to help us select mergers and acquisitions that will strengthen our products and our technology base."

Grafft has worked at Tivoli four years, most recently serving as senior vice president of development. Prior to joining Tivoli, Grafft was an independent consultant involved in planning and developing UNIX-based applications that use voice and call processing technologies and the Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) architecture. In addition to his tenure at Tivoli, Grafft has more than 15 years of experience developing voice, data, and message switching products for the telecommunications industry.

"A large contributing factor to the success of the industry's dominant software companies has been their ability to build an industry around their core product offerings," Grafft noted. "My charter is to develop that industry for TME 10, and as a result, make a major contribution to Tivoli's goal to be the dominant player in the management of network computing environments."
