Micron Electronics introduces 100-MHz Pentium desktop for business users

NAMPA, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 12, 1996--Micron(TM) Electronics, Inc., today introduced a new generation of desktop Pentium(R) computers specifically intended for business users designated the ClientPro(TM) P100. The ClientPro P100 is available for direct purchase by customers at 1-800/438-3343.

Moeser said the research for the ClientPro P100 included these initiatives, among others:
-- Focus groups were assembled with large corporations in major
cities.
-- Extensive market research was conducted to specify customer
requirements.
-- Corporate requests for proposals for computer systems were
tracked for months to further tailor customer needs in specific
industries.
-- Extensive interviews were conducted with MEI sales
professionals, whose on-the-ground knowledge of customer
needs shaped important features of this new model.
-- Micron Electronics' rich data base was examined for additional
business use trends for incorporation into the ClientPro P100
package.
The ClientPro P100 incorporates several features from Micron Electronics' award-winning Millennia desktop line, adding important value to a product with a base price of just $1,499. ClientPro is a stable corporate workstation that is extremely configurable and can easily be customized to the most specific customer requirements. The ClientPro P100 is the first corporate PC entry for Micron Electronics, a company whose superior reputation has been built on powerful, high-value computing in home, laptop and technical workstation computers. The new line is targeted for value-minded companies seeking stability in their PC systems. Potential markets include large corporations, network administrators, foreign businesses, and resellers.
ClientPro P100's standard features include Intel's(R) Advanced ML motherboard with Intel 82430HX chipset; a S3(R) Trio V video card with 1 MB of EDO DRAM upgradeable to 2MB; Intel Pentium Processors from 100 to 200 MHz; 1.0 GB enhanced IDE hard drive; 3Com(R) 3C509 NIC card; a 256K Pipelined Burst cache; a minimum of 8MB EDO RAM; plug-and-play capability; and a choice of Microsoft(R) Windows(R) for Workgroups 3.11 and Dos 6.22 or Windows 95. Windows NT 3.51 is available for an extra fee. All systems feature a newly-designed unique case which gives the user increased accessibility for customization and upgrades. The new design also incorporates a highly-efficient cooling design resulting in a quieter overall system. The ClientPro P100 is further strengthened by a five-year limited warranty on the microprocessor and main memory and a three- year limited system warranty on all hardware.
