PF.Magic's Catz Make Their Home on the Web Catz Now Available for Cyber Adoption

Business Wire, June 19, 1996

SAN FRANCISCO,--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 19, 1996--Catz(TM), the frisky felines in Cyberspace, are the latest Computer Petz(TM) from PF.Magic available for adoption on the Web (www.catz.com). Loaded with fun animations and cool Catz sounds, the Catz Web site has a high level of interactivity, and a free downloadable Catz adoption kit, making it possible for pet lovers around the world to have a digital friend on their desktop for $19.95. Catz is the second product in the company's Computer Petz line, and today is pouncing to desktops on the heels of the highly successful Dogz (www.dogz.com), the first ever interactive pet for the computer.

PF.Magic recognizes that adopting just the right Catz requires time and personal interaction with the Petz, so they created Meet the Catz, a special area on the company's Web site with animated sequences that allows the user to get "purrsonal" information about the different breeds of Catz. Once the user has chosen the Catz they want, the web site provides step-by-step instructions to ensure that the free Catz Adoption Kit download is quick and easy. All Catz can be adopted as kittenz and grow and mature gradually. Also featured on the Web site is Catz Toyz, a display of toys available for the Catz containing animated examples of the fun users can have with their Catz and toys.

In addition to adopting Catz on the Web site, PF.Magic has enriched the site with the Catz Club -- a web community for Catz lovers. In Catz Pix, PF.Magic has created an area where people can upload pictures of their Catz and tell their favorite Catz stories. In Catz World, a very cool VRML 3D world for surfers to wander around in, PF.Magic plays homage to the Egyptian God Cat. For extra fun on the site, PF.Magic has created the "Find the Mouse Contest" where users must search the Web site and catch the mouse to become eligible for cool prizes. The site also provide online tech support, online help, and FAQs (frequently asked questions) to assist visitors.

"The Web site provides a place for potential Petz owners to play with Catz and interact with other Catz owners, bringing a sense of community to the Web," said John Scull, Managing Director, PF.Magic. "We've spiced up our site with a lot of cool technology to make it even more compelling, interactive, and fun."

Catz, the second product in the Computer Petz line, are frisky, funny and very feline companions. Catz reside on your desktop, and offer all of the benefits of cat ownership without the hassle of furballz or a messy litter box. As with Dogz, Catz are "adopted" and begin their lives with you as kittenz. Within a few weeks, they mature to fully grown Catz, and their "purrsonalities" are directly shaped and developed by the amount of attention and interaction given by their owners. Catz introduces "multiple character interaction," with the arrival of a mouse, creating a "real" Catz and mouse chase.

Catz makes its way to the Web following the launch of the highly success Dogz site (www.dogz.com), first introduced in late Fall, 1995. Dogz quickly rose to one of the top selling slots on leading national and international computer retail charts and over a half million people have visited the web site as a part of the cyber adoption program. In addition, thousands of people have posted pictures and stories about their Dogz in Mutt Mugz, creating am organic community of Dogz lovers. PF.Magic's Dogz web site was also a Finalist in the New Media Magazine Web Awards.

PF. Magic, from its toy- and game-filled offices in San Francisco's "Multimedia Gulch," is known for its unique and innovative interactive characters, games and digital toys. Since its start in 1991, the Company has developed several award-winning, cutting-edge products. These include Ballz(TM), the first truly 3-D fighting game on the Sega Genesis, SNES and 3DO; PaTaank(TM) a "point-of-view" 3-D pinball game on the 3DO; and Max Magic(TM), the world's first electronic magic kit, hosted by an intelligent 3-D character. In the Fall of 1995, PF.Magic introduced Dogz, the first product in the Computer Petz line and in the Summer of 1996, introduced Catz. Located in San Francisco's Multimedia Gulch, PF.Magic is privately held.
