SOFTWARE AG LAUNCHES DATA WAREHOUSE INITIATIVE WORLDWIDE; Emphasizes data acquisition and management, increased return on investment; supports MicroStrategy's DSS 4.0 product line
Business Wire, June 24, 1996
RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- June 24, 1996 -- Software AG today announced the launch of its data warehouse initiative worldwide and introduced a new brand name for its data warehousing family of products and services called Intelligon. Intelligon addresses worldwide issues in the data warehousing market by providing a global implementation methodology; a worldwide support and delivery team; and increased ROI by focusing on the administration and management of a data warehouse. Intelligon enables cost-effective deployment of a data warehouse, reduces lifecycle costs and provides decision makers access to critical business information.
"We are looking to meet the needs of multi-national companies and the worldwide market for data warehousing with the launch of Intelligon," said Robert Flury, senior vice president of Software AG's Data Warehousing Worldwide Line of Business. "This builds on our Open Data Warehouse Initiative that we announced in 1994, which has since earned us many industry awards for our data warehouse implementations. We are now focusing on the areas of data acquisition and management to help customers achieve significant return on investment."
As part of its relationship with MicroStrategy to resell and support their OLAP offerings, Software AG has announced support for DSS Web, a ROLAP interface for the Web, a new addition to MicroStrategy's DSS 4.0 product line. DSS Web, DSS Agent and DSS Server are all available through Software AG to the North American market.
"MicroStrategy's data access and analysis tools are a perfect complement to the Intelligon initiative," said Chuck Waser, Software AG's director of data access marketing. "We will continue to augment our areas of technology expertise with those of industry-leading partners to benefit our data warehouse customers. The DSS product line reinforces our strong presence on the desktop and is the first Internet product available in the data warehouse arena."
