Lawson Software selects FileNet's workflow engine for new integrated business process suites
Business Wire, June 24, 1996
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 24, 1996--Lawson Software, a leading provider of Web-deployable client/server business applications, and FileNet Corporation (Nasdaq:FILE), a leader in enterprise document management and business process automation software, today announced that Lawson will embed FileNet's workflow engine into its process suite software applications.
The new process-centric applications will provide managers with embedded workflow process models that control and track key business processes. Lawson Software's process suites are a part of the company's new product release, scheduled for delivery later this quarter.
Lawson's process models and Visual WorkFlo(r), FileNet's workflow engine, comprise the base of Lawson's process automation capability in its new product line, which will include Financial, Human Resources, Procurement and Supply Chain process suites. Lawson chose to embed FileNet's object-oriented Visual WorkFlo with its process suite applications to help companies streamline and automate their traditional departmental, stove-pipe business functions into workflow-driven, cross-functional business processes. Additionally, Visual WorkFlo's open API sets and object-based architecture are highly compatible with Lawson's multi-tiered client/server application architecture, ultimately giving Lawson's customers highly flexible and adaptable process-centric business applications.
"Our partnership with FileNet delivers the benefits of best-of- breed business solutions," noted Bill Lawson, CEO of Lawson Software. "FileNet's workflow engine, combined with Lawson's new process-centric product suites, allows maximum process adaptability. Our clients will receive standard process templates based on cross- industry best practices, yet still have the flexibility to adapt existing processes or create new processes at any time."
According to Ted Smith, president and CEO of FileNet, "The Lawson/FileNet partnership combines the strength of Lawson's multi- tier client/server business applications with FileNet's best-of-breed workflow technology to provide best-practice suites that enable users to deploy flexible, process-centric business models."
