Jacobs' Subsidiary Wins 1996 Houston Business Roundtable Safety Award

HOUSTON, TEXAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 25, 1996--Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that JE Merit Constructors, Inc.'s (JEMCI) Houston Operating Group received the 1996 Houston Business Roundtable Safety Award for Outstanding Safety Performance in the Industrial Maintenance - Large category for the second straight year.

The Houston Business Roundtable (HBR) received 84 nominations from owner companies. The field was narrowed down to 27 finalists who received field audits to determine the eight category winners. JEMCI was nominated by Georgia Gulf, Exxon Chemical Americas, Solvay Polymers, and Exxon Plastics for this award.

The HBR Safety Award Banquet is held annually to recognize award nominees, to celebrate safety successes, and to give encouragement for improvement in the safety field. The banquet focuses the attention of area communities and other members of the industry on the superior performance that can be achieved when owners and contractors work together to improve safety.
