Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati Names Alan Austin as Managing Partner

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 26, 1996--Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, one of the nation's leading law firms, announced today that its Executive Committee has named Alan Austin as Managing Partner of the firm.
Austin will succeed Mark Bertelsen, who has served as Managing Partner since 1991. The Managing Partner at WSGR serves as Chief Operating Officer. Larry Sonsini will continue in his role as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
Austin, 47, a corporate securities lawyer who is well-known for his work in public offerings and mergers and acquisitions, will continue to practice law along with his management duties. A graduate of Harvard University and Stanford Law School, Austin clerked for Justice William O. Douglas of the United States Supreme Court. He is also active in community affairs, serving as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees at Palo Alto's Castilleja School and on the Board of Visitors of Stanford Law School.
Larry Sonsini stated, "Mark has been involved in firm management for fifteen years, and we understand his desire to devote more time to the practice of law.
