Contour Announces Mortgage Industry's First Complete Suite of Windows-based Origination Products; Eight applications make up the "Microsoft Office" for the mortgage industry
Business Wire, June 3, 1996
RENO, N.V.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 3, 1996--Contour Software announced at the 1996 National Association of Mortgage Brokers Conference the launch of the mortgage industry's first complete suite of true, Windows(TM)-based origination applications. Contour's complete suite of Windows origination products include The Loan Handler(TM), The Loan Tracker(TM), The Loan Finder(TM), The Contact Manager(TM), The Income Analyzer(TM), The Loan Expert(TM), The Reg Finder(TM) and The HomeBuyers Guide(TM).
"Our customers, as well as the rest of the industry, are demanding integrated Windows applications for their lending operations," commented Scott Cooley, president of Contour. "We believe this to be the most extensive suite offered by any mortgage software vendor. The ease of use and increased efficiency make the Contour suite the "Microsoft Office" of the mortgage industry," said Cooley.
According to Microsoft Corporation, a major trend in business technology is the integration of common applications in a suite environment. During the keynote address at Comdex/Fall 95, Bill Gates, chairman and CEO of Microsoft Corp., said: "There's been a very rapid shift over the last three years towards buying office suites. During the last two years, we've increased our number of Microsoft Office users by a factor of four. And with that paradigm of letting those things work together, documenting techniques in one way has brought a dramatic change."
"Other vendors in the industry have released primitive versions of Windows-based products that actually have fewer features than those running in DOS and they now are adding features to try and catch up with their DOS counterparts," continued Cooley. "We've spent a great deal of time and resources into fully developing our origination products to take advantage of the deeper levels of the Windows system architecture. Consequently, our suite of products has more features and functionality than any other Windows or DOS-based origination system on the market, including our own. While we will continue to support our current DOS users, we expect to discontinue the support of Contour Software DOS versions by 1998."
The Contour suite helps mortgage originators in each phase of the lending process:
The Loan Handler(TM) -- creates, calculates, updates and prints conventional, VA or FHA loan documents in less than half the time of manual processing
The Loan Tracker(TM) -- over 40 built-in reports or users can create formats for pipeline, processing, exception production reports and more
The Loan Finder(TM) -- quickly qualifies prospective borrowers and matches them with offered loan programs
The Contact Manager(TM) -- gives loan officers the ability to track leads, manage to-do lists and organize daily work
The Income Analyzer(TM) -- provides a complete self-employed analysis program
The Loan Expert(TM) -- a hyper-text training and reference for loan processors
The Reg Finder(TM) --- an up-to-date mortgage lending reference library for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA and others
The HomeBuyers Guide(TM) -- offers consumers professional advice for each step in purchasing a home.
"What we've seen in our MORTECH '96 study is that the most important technology feature to originators is a graphic user interface or Windows operating system," commented Jeff Lebowitz of SSP Associates. "Contour's use of Windows in their origination suite lines up with the needs of a large number of mortgage lenders."
