Sequel Technology Appoints C. Rowland Hanson As Chairman Of The Board Of Directors; Technology Marketing Visionary and Microsoft Veteran Joins Fast-Growing Start-Up Company
Business Wire, June 4, 1996
TORONTO, Canada--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 1996--Sequel Technology Corporation, pioneers of Internet Management Software, today announced the appointment of C. Rowland Hanson as chairman of its board of directors.
Hanson is an industry authority on Internet and intranet business strategies. His unrivaled experience in this burgeoning market will be instrumental to Sequel as the management team begins posturing the company for rapid growth and developing strategic partnerships with key computer hardware and software vendors.
As president and founder of C. Rowland Hanson & Associates, Hanson is one of the most widely diversified marketing and communications strategists with proven success in the Internet, Intranet, multimedia, and consumer markets.
In the early 1990's, he experienced great success with the start-up and subsequent sale of two leading multimedia content providers, Amaze and iTravel. As Chairman of Amaze, Hanson helped direct the creation of the first popular content-based computer calendars and screen savers, such as the Far Side and Trivial Pursuit electronic calendars. As chairman and co-founder of iTravel, Hanson formed a strategic alliance with United Airlines to create CD-ROM travel guides for travel agents and frequent fliers.
Prior to his consulting practice, Hanson launched his high-tech career at Microsoft where Bill Gates personally recruited him to join the company as vice president of corporate communications. At Microsoft, Hanson successfully developed and implemented the original branding strategy for the company. He was credited with naming the internationally renowned "Windows," and the first to introduce consumer oriented marketing techniques to the computer industry.
Hanson complements his success in the high-tech industry with an equally impressive background in the consumer industry, launching skin care products to the world as Neutrogena vice president of worldwide marketing, and directing the marketing efforts of several General Mills products and a division of Nestle (Carnation).
Hanson is a Jesuit Honors Society graduate of Loyola University and holds an MBA from Wharton Business School where he was on the Directors List of Distinction.
In addition to his role as chairman for Sequel, Hanson serves as vice chairman for Interactive Catalog Corporation (iCat) where he helps direct the global marketing and communications for its innovative e-commerce publishing software.
