BILLERICA, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 1996--Wang (NASDAQ: WANG) today announced that Rieber GmbH, Europe's leading manufacturer of stainless steel products based in Reutlingen, Germany has purchased a 128 user license of Wang's OPEN/image Link for SAP R/3 software worth U.S. $60,000. Rieber was formerly a beta site for the software. Installing OPEN/image Link for R/3 will allow Rieber to image-enable its R/3 business applications and integrate R/3 applications and Wang's OPEN/image software. This integration will allow Rieber employees to quickly retrieve, view, scan and store paper-based and electronic information such as invoices and payments from within the R/3 application environment.

OPEN/image Link for R/3 and OPEN/image complement the SAP R/3 portfolio of business applications by providing the means to gain significant costs savings through a reduction in paper storage and paper handling time, an increased ability for multiple employees to simultaneously access documents and a reduction in the number of lost documents.

OPEN/image Link for R/3 complies with SAP R/3 ArchiveLink technical interface specification to support integration of images and R/3 output documents with R/3 objects. Wang's OPEN/image Link for R/3 has been certified by SAP. OPEN/image Link for R/3 Release 1.1 integrates SAP R/3 Version 3.0 with Wang's OPEN/image Server for UNIX and OPEN/image Windows Runtime, enabling users to:

-- scan and associate images and R/3 output documents with SAP R/3 objects -- quickly retrieve and display these documents from within an R/3 application environment -- annotate retrieved documents and associate notes with the R/3 object and companion documents -- print image documents associated with R/3 objects

Rieber currently has 128 user licenses for OPEN/image Link for R/3 as well as for OPEN/image for UNIX. The company's OPEN/image system runs on an IBM RS 6000 AIX machine and a Novell network. On a daily basis it manages a throughput of approximately 1100 electronic documents coming from the SAP R/3 application, as well as 400 newly scanned documents.
