StarSight-Equipped Televisions Now Available from Matsushita Consumer Electronics Company; Three New Panasonic Television Models Now Feature the StarSight Electronic Program Guide

FREMONT, CALIF.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 1996--StarSight Telecast, Inc. (Nasdaq: SGHT) today announced that Matsushita Consumer Electronics Company (MCEC) is shipping two StarSight(R)- equipped television models under the Panasonic brand name, and a third model is scheduled to ship later this summer.
Customers who purchase a StarSight-equipped Panasonic TV and subscribe to the StarSight onscreen electronic program guide (EPG) will have the ability to sort TV program listings up to seven days in advance by theme, category, channel or title. They will also have access to detailed program descriptions and one-button VCR recording -- right on their television screens.
"We feel that the StarSight guide is a strong differentiator for our Panasonic television line," said Jeff Cove, vice president and general manager, television division, MCEC. "The features offered by StarSight Telecast are features our customers want and need into today's multichannel world."
The Panasonic CT-31XF43, a 31" color television, and the CT-35XF53, a 35" color television -- both equipped with the StarSight EPG -- are now available at retail outlets nationwide. The Panasonic PT-61XF60, a StarSight-equipped 61" projection television, will be available in late summer.
