Dendrite announces introduction of Synchronization Manager; Provides network connectivity and enables Dendrite's Series 6 product to operate seamlessly with third party applications such as Lotus Notes
Business Wire, June 5, 1996
MORRISTOWN, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 1996--Dendrite International Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS:DRTE), a leading supplier of enterprise-wide customer management solutions for complex selling environments, today announced the availability of the Dendrite Synchronization Manager, a new automated database synchronization and network connectivity product. Synchronization Manager consists of a main control program and one or more plug-in modules to handle the sychronization of Dendrite's Series 6 database transactions as well as those of third party applications. As part of the development of this new product, Dendrite has become a Lotus Business Partner and has selected Lotus Notes Release 4 as one of the first plug-in modules to be offered for Synchronization Manager.
Network Connectivity and On-Line Synchronization
Synchronization Manager solves an important problem for field users by enabling them to tap into the same facilities that are available to the rest of the corporation. Once connected to the corporate network through Synchronization Manager, field users have the benefits of access to host-based reporting systems, Internet/Intranet access and browsing capabilities, and use of electronic mail systems, document management and workflow applications.
In addition, the advanced features of Synchronization Manager provide automated on-line synchronization of Dendrite database transactions as well as those from third party applications within a single communications session, eliminating the need for field users to enter and exit various applications sequentially. For example, the plug-in module for Lotus Notes Release 4 will automatically invoke the replication capabilities of Lotus Notes in addition to synchronizing Dendrite databases. The user can choose to synchronize all databases or may select a subset of databases to synchronize.
"The markets we serve are characterized by constant and rapid change," noted John LaHaye, Vice President of Product Development at Dendrite. "Network connectivity and automated on-line synchronization improve the access and flow of information among users by harnessing the power of the Internet/Intranet platform as well as the capabilities of third party messaging and groupware applications.
"We chose Lotus Notes Release 4 as one of the first plug-in modules for Synchronization Manager due to Lotus' leadership in messaging, groupware and Internet applications. Lotus and Dendrite each offer distinctly different but very complementary capabilities. The combination of Dendrite's Series 6 product and Lotus Notes Release 4 magnifies the impact of everyone's efforts so that the full value of available information is gained across an entire organization."
Don Bulens, Vice President, Worldwide Business Partners, Lotus, said, "We are delighted to have Dendrite as a Lotus Business Partner. Synchronization Manager is an efficient connectivity solution that enables our complementary products to operate together. We think this automated synchronization capability will be of interest to a wide variety of users who need the ability to quickly and efficiently synchronize multiple data sources via a single communications session."
Availability
Synchronization Manager will be available as an option to all current Dendrite customers and as part of the upgrade of Dendrite's Series 6 product due for release in the third quarter of 1996. In addition, Synchronization Manager will be offered by Dendrite's new Consumer Business Division in connection with the worldwide roll out of its new Consumer Packaged Goods and Cosmetics product offerings scheduled to begin during the fourth quarter of 1996. Dendrite's Consumer Business Division was formed recently as a result of the acquisition of SRCI S.A., the leading provider of custom-designed sales force managment systems for the consumer packaged goods and over-the-counter drug and cosmetics industries in France.
