Alpharel/Trimco installs Enabler for ITT Cannon manufacturing enterprise
Business Wire, June 7, 1996
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 1996--Alpharel/Trimco (NASDAQ/NMS:AREL), a principal supplier of enterprise-wide document management systems (EDMS), Friday announced that ITT Cannon has installed a pilot Enabler system to link the company's engineering document office in Santa Ana, Calif., with other manufacturing facilities in North America.
Alpharel/Trimco's Enabler system links images to existing applications. Users continue to interact in a familiar environment with the added ability of accessing documents across all platforms. The roll-out phase of the ITT Cannon installation will demonstrate the overall utility of the Enabler system for those who create and maintain documents as well as those whose jobs rely on prompt receipt of accurate documentation.
"Since our manufacturing facilities are in various states and countries, timely distribution of manufacturing documentation has been a challenge," said Mark Grothe, ITT Cannon's Administrator of Engineering Information Systems. "We anticipate rapid returns on our investment when current documentation is available to manufacturing instantly, improving productivity by reducing down-time. Electronic storage and distribution will reduce the costs associated with maintaining a paper-based system."
The Enabler roll-out program will be complete in six months. Subsequent phases of implementation will expand the document management system to additional locations, applications and users.
"Alpharel/Trimco products are open, which means that they are designed with the flexibility to grow from a pilot to a very large installation, accommodating millions of documents and thousands of users across all platforms," said Alpharel/Trimco President and CEO Jay Tanna. "Regardless of size or diversity of applications, functionality remains extremely high, meeting the needs of business users as well as the specialized needs of technical and engineering users."
ITT Cannon is part of ITT Industries, a $8.3 billion global manufacturing company engaged in the design and manufacture of electronic components, automotive products and fluid handling controls.
Alpharel/Trimco is a leader in delivering enterprise-wide integrated information management systems to thousands of customers around the world. Alpharel/Trimco products and customers have won numerous industry awards over the past few years.
