Take 2 launches critically acclaimed RIPPER; Christopher Walken, Burgess Meredith, Karen Allen lead all-star cast
Business Wire, March 1, 1996
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 1, 1996--Take 2 Interactive Software Inc. announced today the completion of its eagerly anticipated adventure game; RIPPER.
Featuring an all-star cast led by Christopher Walken, Burgess Meredith, Karen Allen, and John Rhys-Davies, over three hours of full-motion across six CDs, and the music of Blue Oyster Cult, the technologically advanced RIPPER promises to transcend interactive gaming. Having already garnered Computer Game Review's "Golden Triad Award", and the "CP Recommended" award from Computer Player, RIPPER appears to be very worthy of the enormous advanced billing it has received from the gaming media.
Jack's Back. In 2040, a vicious serial killer stalks the mean streets of New York, eviscerating his victims and vanishing without a trace. The police are baffled, the city paralyzed with fear. Only you, as crime reporter Jake Quinlan, can crack the case. RIPPER features over 35 interactive puzzles & combat sequences, four different endings, and state-of-the-art full screen video sequences set against a lavishly rendered 3D virtual world.
To launch their biggest release to date, Take 2 is planning an initial worldwide roll out of 160,000 units. "With the tremendous worldwide interest, and its upcoming release across multiple platforms, RIPPER is the kind of product with the potential to sustain a long run on the best seller list," added Mark Seremet, Take 2's president. RIPPER also marks the first product to be distributed domestically by A.D.I., Acclaim Entertainment's Inc.'s (NASDAQ:AKLM) distribution arm, as part of the recent multi-year deal Take 2 completed with ADI for its domestic distribution rights. European distribution will be handled by Gametek UK, while the Asian rights are being fulfilled by a number of different distribution partners.
RIPPER will be available March 5th for PC CD-ROM, with other platforms scheduled for release this summer.
