Oclassen acquires Cormax — clobetasol propionate — Topical Steroid Line

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. and SAN ANTONIO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- March 15, 1996--Oclassen Pharmaceuticals today announced it has become the sole distributor of Cormax(TM) (clobetasol propionate 0.05%) topical steroid formulations, including scalp application, ointment and cream.

Clobetasol propionate is the topical steroid most frequently prescribed by the dermatologist. Oclassen is currently in the process of launching the scalp application and plans to introduce the ointment later this year and the cream in 1997.

Oclassen acquired rights to Cormax(TM) from DPT Laboratories Inc. In return, Oclassen licensed Iodosorb(R) and Iodoflex(TM), two products used in the treatment of wounds, to Healthpoint Medical, a division of DPT Laboratories.

Cormax(TM) will provide physicians with a less expensive, maximum potency topical steroid line with the high quality associated with the Oclassen reputation in dermatology. Oclassen currently markets four other prescription product lines: Condylox(R) (podofilox) topical solution 0.5%, Monodox(R) (doxycycline monohydrate) capsules, Cordran(R) (flurandrenolide, USP) including Cordran(R) Tape, Lotion, Cream and Ointment, and Cinobac(R) (cinoxacin, USP) capsules.
