Business Wire, March 25, 1996
IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 25, 1996--NetSoft, the innovation leader in PC-to-IBM host connectivity software and a Microsoft Solutions Provider, Monday announced version 2.0 of NS/Print Server for Windows NT, the industry's only mainframe-to-LAN print server for use with Microsoft SNA Server.
Powerful new features include an increase in concurrent host session support from 32 to 254, remote configuration and administration with new levels of security, print-to-disk capabilities, an enhanced user interface, and improved print job status display.
"NetSoft has revolutionized mainframe-to-LAN printing by centralizing host print jobs, sending jobs directly to the LAN printers, and reducing SNA and LAN traffic for increased productivity and efficiency," said Al Konopka, NetSoft's director of marketing. "This new version builds on these strengths and the strengths of Microsoft's Windows NT and SNA Server, while provided greatly expanded capabilities."
NS/Print Server version 2.0 saves time and money by allowing a local or remote LAN administrator to centrally configure, monitor and control all the mainframe-to-LAN printing activities. Administrators can work from their own offices without having to travel to different sites. NS/Print Server installs easily and operates within Windows NT's resources and security. Only system administrators can start and stop the NS/Print Server Windows NT service, which assures enhanced security and control.
NS/Print Server's user interface has been enhanced and redesigned with the same look and feel as Microsoft SNA Server. "Administrators already familiar with SNA Server will enjoy a very short learning curve with NS/Print Server," said Michelle Kimura, NetSoft's mainframe product evangelist.
The new software supports both SNA Logical Unit (LU) type 1 and LU type 3 mainframe print data streams, mapping Microsoft SNA Server printer LUs to Windows NT printers. The job monitor function provides printing visibility, including session status, host application identification and SNA Server host session identification.
Available for immediate delivery from NetSoft and authorized resellers, NS/Print Server version 2.0 for Windows NT is priced at $795 for 16 sessions, $1,495 for 32 sessions, $2,795 for 64 sessions, $5,295 for 128 sessions and $9,895 for 254 sessions. upgrade pricing from version 1.0 is available.
