New Mexico Lottery Selects Andersen Consulting's Lottery Management System

Business Wire, March 25, 1996

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 25, 1996--The New Mexico Lottery awarded Andersen Consulting a $3 million contract to help administer the state's first-ever lottery. This marks the consulting firm's twelfth lottery engagement in the United States, and the eighth project that uses Andersen Consulting's Comprehensive Lottery Accounting and Information System (ACCLAIMS).

"Our goal is to equip New Mexico with a lottery that is easy to use, economical to maintain and lucrative for the state," said M. Kenneth Bien, partner with Andersen Consulting's Government practice. Initially, the New Mexico lottery will offer citizens instant games, such as scratch tickets. By fall, on-line automation capabilities will allow retailers that sell instant lottery tickets to electronically validate them with the New Mexico Lottery.

"Traditionally, state lotteries catapult themselves into a revenue stream that, in the first year, can generate revenues equal to that of a top Fortune 500 company. ACCLAIMS is a proven solution that facilitates and manages that rapid growth," said Bien.

According to the contract with the New Mexico Lottery, Andersen Consulting will customize ACCLAIMS for New Mexico, and train key lottery employees to maintain the system as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.

ACCLAIMS supports the New Mexico's Lottery's mission to provide entertaining products to citizens while maintaining honesty and integrity among the staff and systems in place. ACCLAIMS is currently operating in Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, South Dakota, Minnesota and Virginia.
