CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 27, 1996--ORA Electronics' Travel Talk, a hands-free solution to encourage safety on the road, received the prestigious Mobile News award in the United Kingdom at a gala event held at the London Hilton on March 19, 1996.
Travel Talk won the award over some very distinguished competition including Mitsubishi's MT 20 and Sony's CM DX 1000 cellular telephones and Ericsson's Hi 2600 Car Kit.
Accepting the award for ORA Electronics was Malcolm Hanson, managing director for ORA UK Ltd, the European distribution arm of ORA Electronics.
Travel Talk, which was given the most innovative product award, is the unique hands-free speakerphone for portable cellular telephones that can travel with the user -- from vehicle-to-vehicle. Travel Talk allows users to keep their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road, while enjoying the safety and convenience of hands-free conversations.
In the United States, Travel Talk is carried by major retailers and enjoys tremendous popularity because it is the complete hands-free solution. Easily transferred from one vehicle to another, Travel Talk is actually two products in one: a hands-free speakerphone and power cord. In addition to enabling hands-free conversations, Travel Talk also provides the additional benefits of a power cord, allowing the user to power the portable cellular phone and charge the phone's battery.
ORA Electronics, the world's leading supplier of cellular and PCS accessories, is a division of Alliance Research Corp., a 22-year-old, privately owned conglomerate with headquarters in Chatsworth.
