Borland C++ 5.0 Wins Software Development 96 Windows/C++ Super Bowl; Beats Microsoft s Visual C++ 4.0

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 29, 1996--Borland International Inc. announced today that Borland C 5.0, the new version of its award-winning C and C development system, won the C Superbowl at the Software Development 96 conference and exhibition. Borland C 5.0 was chosen as the overall winner over Microsoft's Visual C by a team of five judges. The judges selected Borland C as the winner based on the total number of development problems Borland C programmers solved in an hour using the product. "We designed Borland C 5.0 for software developers who want the best tools available to be more productive in their jobs," said Richard Gorman, vice president of products at Borland. Borland C Development Suite 5.0 and Borland C 5.0

Borland recently announced two new versions of its award-winning C products: Borland C Development Suite 5.0 and Borland C 5.0. Borland C Development Suite includes all of Borland C 5.0; CodeGuard 32/16; PVCS Version Manager; InstallShield Express; and the AppAccelerator for Java, a just-in-time compiler which makes Java applications run five to ten times faster. Borland C 5.0 includes a native 32-bit hosted environment, which lets developers target multiple platforms, including Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows 3.1, and DOS. Borland C 5.0 also includes a new version of Borland's award-winning application framework, ObjectWindows Library (OWL) 5.0, Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC) compilation support; Visual Database Tools (VDBT); ObjectScripting; and Java-compatible development tools.

Borland C ObjectScipting Contest

Earlier this week, Borland announced an ObjectScripting contest in which the grand prize winner is eligible to win a new laptop computer. ObjectScripting is a new fully programmable and flexible system that allows developers to easily modify and configure Borland's award-winning Borland C integrated development environment.
