MetaInfo Teams with Global Internet to Provide Secure Firewall for Microsoft Windows NT; MetaInfo's DNS for NT and Sendmail Technologies integrated in Centri Firewall
Business Wire, May 1, 1996
SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 1, 1996--MetaInfo Inc. today announced that they have been chosen to provide the key e-mail and domain name service (DNS) server components for Global Internet's Centri Firewall, the only firewall for the Microsoft Windows NT operating system based on the industry-standard Trusted Information Systems (TIS) Gauntlet Internet Firewall technology.
The agreement, completed mid-April, means that technologies from MetaInfo's Internet connectivity products, Sendmail with POP3 for Windows NT and DNS for Windows NT, will be incorporated into the Centri Firewall, providing customers with a total Internet gateway solution.

"There's clearly a need for Internet security solutions on the Microsoft Windows NT platform," said Jared Vogt, president of MetaInfo Inc., "and we're pleased that Global Internet released an NT-based firewall that incorporated our technologies. They've conducted extensive testing to verify that Centri Firewall will be the most advanced and secure solution on the market, and we're proud to be a part of it."
MetaInfo's DNS server and sendmail router add integral functionality to Centri Firewall. Essentially, they act as gatekeepers for e-mail and DNS service requests, mediating communications between the "inside" and "outside" of the firewall. By incorporating MetaInfo's software into the Centri Firewall, Global Internet is saving customers the added time and expense required to configure an SMTP gateway on the firewall.
"To provide the best firewall solution for Microsoft Windows NT, you have to have the best components," said Mark Kriss, executive vice president of marketing and sales at Global Internet. "It's essential that firewalls have superior functionality in their DNS server and sendmail router. We've rigorously tested all available solutions and MetaInfo's are the most secure and consistent in execution. We have a high degree of confidence in the MetaInfo products."
