Business Wire, May 14, 1996

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 14, 1996--GammaLink, a division of Dialogic Corporation and the leading supplier of computer-based fax (CBF) platforms worldwide, and Digital Equipment Corporation today announced the industry's first support for 96 channels of facsimile on a single Digital AlphaServer 1000 platform. The 96-channel support is the highest channel facsimile configuration ever to be supported on a single PCI/ISA-Bus system platform. This high-density configuration provides the ideal telephony solution for corporations around the world that require large scalable communications systems encompassing voice, data and image technologies.

With this high-density fax support, businesses operating on the AlphaServer 1000 will now be able to handle up to 96 channels of fax lines per system. The system configuration chosen by Digital utilizes eight high-performance GammaLink CP/12-SC fax boards and four Dialogic D240/SC-T1 voice boards in conjunction with Digital's telephony voice development platform, the AlphaServer 1000. Digital, the leader in open client/server solutions from personal computing to integrated worldwide information systems, will be offering this high-performance facsimile configuration as a Digital product by the end of May 1996.

"With this high-density fax development, corporations will have access to a fully scalable communications system that can grow and evolve as the corporation expands its communications needs," said Larry Aiken, director of marketing at GammaLink. "The robust functionality of GammaLink and Dialogic product offerings in conjunction with the powerful AlphaServer 1000 server provides seamless voice/fax integration for application developers looking for the highest channel density and reliability on the market."

GammaLink's award winning CP-6/SC and CP-12/SC fax boards facilitate the development of computer-based fax broadcast, fax-on-demand, T1 connections for fax and integrated voice response (IVR) systems. GammaLink's CP-6/SC and CP-12/SC offer six and twelve fax channels respectively on a single high-density board and offers support for Signal Computing System Architecture (SCSA) SCbus and Dialogic Corporation's PCM Expansion Bus (PEB) interfaces. The high-performance CP-12/SC enables developers to create voice/fax analog, fax/analog, fax-only T1 or ISDN, fax-only E1 (the European version of a T1 connection) and voice/fax/T1 applications.

"The combination of Digital's AlphaServer Voice Platform and GammaLink's fax boards provides customers with the ability to develop and implement feature-rich applications that can be easily migrated from small line counts to thousands of lines without rewriting code which saves valuable resources," stated Bruce Cohen, Digital Equipment Corporation's director of computer telephony marketing.

Digital's interactive voice response platform integrates the industry's leading technology for voice, telephony, fax and voice recognition from Dialogic Corporation. The AlphaServer Voice Platform offers high channel support, runs on the Alpha RISC technology and features an open design that will make it the platform of choice for application developers and Digital's business partners.
