Business Wire, May 14, 1996
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 14, 1996--EPSON Tuesday announced a new plastic-film panel (PFP) passive matrix full dot display, the TCM-A0824, to attendees at the Society for Information Display trade show.
``EPSON has been supplying PFP technology for more than 15 years,'' said Walter Carlos, business unit director, EPSON. ``PFP uses flexible plastic as a base material to achieve a thin, light and unbreakable-type LCD panel. Because of these characteristics, PFP displays are well suited for mobile communications devices such as pagers and cellular products.''
EPSON's new TCM-A0824 PFP display is designed for low-power- consumption products. The TCM-A0824 model integrates a 3.3-volt single power supply with a built-in RAM driver and a DC/DC converter for a low power consumption of 5mW.
The new 4.6-inch display is an FTN reflective LCD (transflective by option) featuring a display format of 640x200 pixels, black character color with white background and a 6 o'clock viewing angle. Additionally, the display screen size is 115.185mm (W) x 35.985mm (H) with a dot pitch of 0.18mm x 0.18mm and dot size of 0.165mm x 0.165mm.
EPSON's new TCM-A0824 display is compact, measuring 128.7mm (W) x 49.0mm (H) x 5.5mm (T) and weighing 40.0 grams.
With a high contrast ratio of 10:1, the panel's operating temperature is 0 degrees to 60 degrees C., and storage temperature is -20 degrees to 70 degrees C. Maximum contrast ratio is achieved at 25 degrees C.
The TCM-A0824 display is currently available in sample quantities. For more information on EPSON OEM products, call 310/787-6300.
