Honeywell Names R. Sam Hawkins President, Asia-Pacific Region

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 16, 1996-- Honeywell Inc. today announced it has promoted Sam Hawkins to president, Asia-Pacific replacing E.J.(Ted) Smith, who has served as president since October 1995 and is now repatriating to the United States.
In his new position, Hawkins, 58, will be responsible for overseeing and directing the operations of the Asia-Pacific Region. He will report to Honeywell Chief Operating Officer D. Larry Moore. "Sam is superbly qualified to assume this post," said Moore. "His leadership has been instrumental to the growth of a key Honeywell business over the past several years. He brings to his new position management skills and a broad perspective will make him an effective leader in this important and growing region."
Hawkins was vice president of Industrial Automation and Control's TotalPlant(TM) Solutions Business Unit, reporting to Markos Tambakeras, IAC president. A successor to Hawkins position has not yet been named.
During his 31-year career at Honeywell, Hawkins has held a variety of key positions in management and sales. He has served as vice president, international operations; vice president, Saudi Aramco Business; and vice president of Honeywell's Midwest Region.
Hawkins holds a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Arizona and an MBA from Arizona State University.
