Synbiotics Corp. introduces new canine parvo virus diagnostic test; simplified format offers speed and accuracy
Business Wire, May 2, 1996
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 1996--Synbiotics Corp. (NASDAQ:SBIO) Thursday announced that the company is introducing a new diagnostic product for the detection of canine parvo virus.
ASSURE/PARVO offers clinicians a simple and rapid method for performing in-clinic parvo virus testing.
The 10-minute colorimetric test is conducted by simply resuspending canine fecal samples in a tube of pre-mixed incubating solution. Five minutes later a detecting reagent is added to the mixture. If the solution turns blue the test is positive and the dog is infected with canine parvo virus. If it remains clear the test is negative and the dog is not infected. ASSURE/PARVO also provides clinicians with a novel sensing wand that simplifies sample collection and improves sensitivity.
Rapid detection of canine parvo virus allows for quarantine and prompt treatment of infected dogs; major considerations in preventing further spread of the disease.
ASSURE/PARVO is available to veterinarians through distributors. Synbiotics is a major supplier of diagnostics and vaccines for the veterinary market. For further information call Veterinary Services at 800/228-4305.
Synbiotics develops, manufactures and markets advanced animal health products under its own name in the United States and internationally through licensees.
