Poudre School District expands its Alpharel/Trimco EDMS system; upgrades systems, expands enterprise
Business Wire, May 2, 1996
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 1996--Alpharel/Trimco (NASDAQ/NMS:AREL), a principal supplier of enterprisewide document management systems (EDMSs), Thursday announced that it has signed a contract with Poudre School District of Fort Collins, Colo., to upgrade its existing enterprisewide document management system and double the number of system users.
In addition, the school district has added two new scanning sites.
In June 1995, Alpharel/Trimco provided Poudre School District with FileFolder, a comprehensive network-based solution for managing business and technical documents from native applications.
The FlexFolder upgrade will provide users with more flexible indexing capabilities, allowing them to define unique index schemes by application, type of folder and type of document. It also assigns context-sensitive field labels and properties to documents for easy retrieval.
The additional licenses will extend the system to include financial applications. With the ability to scan at two additional sites, the district will significantly increase the number of documents managed by the FlexFolder system.
"Alpharel/Trimco's open architecture is ideal for an installation like Poudre School District," said Jay Tanna, Alpharel/Trimco's president and CEO. "As the database grows, the system easily expands to other departments. The upgrades to FlexFolder provide a wider range of functionality, ensuring the system's utility to a wider range of users."
Poudre School District currently manages enrollment, scholastic records, personnel records, and health and safety information for approximately 21,000 kindergarten through high school students at 43 locations in the region. The district employs nearly 2,500 teachers, administrators and staff.
The State of Colorado requires all student and personnel records to be retained permanently. By managing all documents on-line, Poudre School District will avoid the costs associated with warehousing and maintaining paper copies.
"Document management is a demanding requirement that all school districts face," said David Williamson, communications services manager, Poudre School District. "For integrated document management to work here, we needed cross-platform support, workflow, native language display and storage, two-way faxing and COLD integration. Alpharel/Trimco's system has the functionality to meet our needs."
Alpharel/Trimco is a leader in delivering enterprisewide integrated information management systems to thousands of customers around the world.
