James C. Houck named general manager of Texaco Alternate Energy Department

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 1996--Texaco announced today that it has named James C. Houck General Manager of the Texaco Alternate Energy Department effective June 1.
The Texaco Alternate Energy Department manages the company's joint venture cogeneration plants (currently producing 1060 megawatts of electricity), new cogeneration projects, several of which are under negotiation and development, as well as the company's extensive gasification activities focused on refining, chemical and power markets. These activities include joint venture plant operations, project development, technology, licensing and research.
In making the appointment, Texaco Vice Chairman Peter I. Bijur said, "Texaco's power generation and gasification activities are significant assets of the company's energy portfolio. Jim has extensive experience in developing projects and marketing technology. He will lead an experienced team to build on the company's success in finding new markets to support Texaco's plan for growth."
Houck is currently Director of Cogeneration Development in the Texaco Alternate Energy Universal City (California) Office. He was graduated from Trinity University in 1970 with a B.S. in engineering and earned an M.B.A. from the University of Houston in 1972. Houck joined Getty Oil Company in 1975 as a planning supervisor. At the time of Texaco's acquisition of Getty in 1984, he was Manager of Corporate Planning and Development for Getty Oil. Houck was named Texaco's Division Planning Manager in the Los Angeles Producing Division in 1985, and in 1987 was made Assistant General Manager, Texaco USA Producing Department in Houston. In 1989, he was made Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Texaco Cogeneration and Power Company in Los Angeles. He was appointed to his current position in 1994.
Houck will relocate to the White Plains, N.Y., area.
