WASHINGTON, ITCA Booth No.1129--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 1996-- Sony Electronics and Telsource Corporation, an independent service organization, today announced an agreement that calls for Telsource to install, maintain, and service Sony's full line of videoconferencing systems nationwide. The agreement teams Sony's successful family of videoconferencing products with an established network of telecommunications experts, providing videoconferencing customers with end-to-end sales and support services.
"Sony is proud to be able to provide high quality videoconferencing systems with the network strength that Telsource is known for," said Anthony Gargano, senior vice president of application systems for Sony Electronics" Business and Professional Products Group. "With this relationship, Sony's videoconferencing customers can now count on expertise and experience across the board, from system design and installation to networking service and support."
"Telsource is extremely pleased to be selected by Sony to provide national installation and maintenance services for its videoconferencing systems," said Vince Sciarra, president for Telsource Corporation. "We believe that this relationship will greatly enhance Sony's capabilities to deliver turnkey solutions, including responsive field maintenance services to its customers anywhere in the continental United States and Hawaii."

Sony entered the videoconferencing market with the successful introduction of the TriniCom(TM) 5000 system in January of this year. The TriniCom 5000 system, the flagship in Sony's family of videoconferencing products, has contributed to the evolution of videoconferencing by including built-in, four-party multipoint conferencing functionality, "Quartet" continuous presence capabilities, and an integrated BONDING(TM) inverse multiplexer. These key features are combined into a roll-about unit comprised of a space-saving video/audio processor with full duplex audio, a high-resolution 1/3-inch HyperHAD(R) CCD camera, 27-inch Trinitron(R) monitor, wireless remote control system and roll-about cart, all at a suggested retail price of $21,600.
Sony Electronics also announced at this year's ITCA the latest addition to its line of videoconferencing systems, the TriniCom 4000 Rollabout Videoconferencing System. At a very competitive price point, the new system expands Sony's offerings to the videoconferencing market, providing videoconferencing solutions for an even broader range of applications. The high-performance TriniCom 4000 system, with a suggested retail price of $15,900, has all the features needed for most videoconferencing applications, including a wireless remote control and on-screen icon menu. Sony has also applied its expertise in video/audio technology to the TriniCom 4000 system by equipping it with a video/audio processor with full duplex audio, a high-resolution 1/3-inch HyperHAD(R) CCD camera and 27-inch Trinitron monitor. The TriniCom 4000 system is also easily upgradable to keep pace with a company's evolving videoconferencing needs. -0- Editor's Note: For more information on Sony products, readers can call 1-800-635-SONY.
