Liebert CS&S sells Europe's first Battery L.I.F.E. program; world's largest computerized ticketing service is the buyer
Business Wire, May 3, 1996
COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 3, 1996--The world's leading Power Protection and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) service provider, Liebert Customer Service and Support (CS&S), recently widened its international focus when it began offering its Battery L.I.F.E. program to European customers.
Los Angeles-based Ticketmaster has been a UPS client of Liebert CS&S since 1990. In 1992, CS&S also began providing services to Ticketmaster's English offices -- Ticketmaster UK Ltd. -- in London and Manchester. However, the Battery L.I.F.E. program was not available at that time outside of North America. In July of 1995, when the time came to replace the batteries in Ticketmaster UK Ltd.'s UPS systems, a request was made to employ the Battery L.I.F.E. program.
The Battery L.I.F.E. program provides Ticketmaster UK Ltd. with the back-up support that is crucial to the operation of a computer system in the event of an emergency. The program includes full battery replacement (as long as the contract is in effect); 7-days-a-week, 24-hour full parts, labor and travel coverage; four preventive maintenance visits annually; a computerized battery management report; and emergency service coverage.
"We found the concept of the Battery L.I.F.E. program to be an attractive one. We liked the idea that we would never have to worry about our batteries again," said Duncan Flowers, technical services manager UK Ltd.
"Although CS&S is the largest UPS and Power Protection service provider in the world, there are some services we have yet to expand to our clients outside North America," said Larry Hart, international marketing manager for Liebert CS&S. "Our plan is to increase gradually our service offerings until all our clients worldwide have the same opportunities.
"Along these lines, we had planned to begin offering additional services to European customers in 1996. However, the decision to increase current services came earlier than expected as a result of ticketmaster's request," Hart said. "When Ticketmaster UK Ltd. asked if we were ready to expand our services overseas, we said, `Sure, let's get started.'" In January of 1996, Ticketmaster became Liebert CS&S' first European Battery L.I.F.E. customer.
One tricky aspect of the equipment installation was the fact that Ticketmaster is a 24-hour ticket service, thus there was no time that the company would be able to go without power. In order to cause as little disruption as possible, the installation was done at 2 a.m.
Liebert CS&S, an exclusive service provider for Liebert Corp., is the largest in the UPS and power protection industry. CS&S was begun in 1979 to support the start-up, parts and service needs of Liebert's customers. The company insures the uptime of its clients through a wide variety of services which include the SOS Service Link(SM) Remote Monitoring Program, SOS VendorLink(SM) Vendor Management Program and the Battery L.I.F.E. program.
Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Liebert CS&S is a division of Liebert Corp., which is an independent subsidiary of Emerson Electric Co. -- the world's leading supplier of computer support systems and the largest supplier of power protection systems worldwide.
Ticketmaster is the world's leading computerized ticketing service with more than 3,000 clients in North America alone. Ticketmaster UK is the UK's leading computerized ticketing company.
