Anti-virus security expert joins Command Software Systems as technical director in charge of quality

JUPITER, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 31, 1996--Richard Ford, former editor of the Virus Bulletin and former director of research for the National Computer Security Association, has been appointed technical director for Command Software Systems of Jupiter.

Command is a leading developer of anti-virus and security software.

Ford's responsibilities at Command include overseeing the quality assurance department and testing security products to insure for maximum protection.

"Ford's extensive experience in the testing and comparison of anti-virus products will play a major role in maintaining our commitment to providing the highest degree of security available in the industry," said Command Software Systems President Dyan Dyer.

Ford has been involved in computer security since 1990. While working towards a doctorate in semiconductor physics at Oxford University, a data analysis machine he was using for research became infected with a virus, which he proceeded to analyze and neutralize. He joined the Virus Bulletin in 1992 and the National Computer Security Association in 1995. In the latter position, he developed a stringent certification scheme for anti-virus software, based on threat tracking and reliable detection of viruses which pose the greatest threat to the computing community.
