Amdahl Strengthens Enterprise Computing Market Position With $70 Million Services Contract Win; U.S. Postal Service, One of the World's Largest Employers, Awards Five-Year IS Support Contract for Information Systems, Field Computing, Information Technology and Information Security Requirements

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 7, 1996--Amdahl Corporation, the enterprise computing company, today announced a new, five-year $70 million contract win to provide technology support services over a five (5) year period for Information Systems of U.S. Postal Service. The contract was effective April 1, 1996 and is renewable annually through the year 2001.
The Operations Services group of Amdahl Customer Services will provide consulting services, management and support services for U.S. Postal Service Information Systems, Production Operations, in the areas of Field Computing, Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Security and other areas of support through a team of "best in class service providers." This team includes BDM International Inc., API Corporation and 3SI Corporation.

Amdahl understood what we needed and provided a winning solution," said Jim Healy, manager of Information Systems, Production Operations for U.S. Postal Service.
Amdahl will be the single point of contact in providing overall management for the team of service providers and for the total solution. The Amdahl Operations Services group will manage the contract, with BDM and API providing PC/NT, LAN and WAN expertise and 3SI providing VAX support.
