Business Wire, Nov 12, 1996
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 12, 1996--Visual Numerics, Inc. (VNI) today announced the availability of full ODBC (Object DataBase Connection) support for PV-WAVE.
This new toolkit provides PV-WAVE Microsoft Windows users the ability to read data from any ODBC compliment data source. PV-WAVE is the leader in visual data analysis (VDA) software for scientists and researchers with over 500,000 users worldwide. The release of the PV-WAVE:ODBC Connection Toolkit fills an important market requirement for this user community.
Windows users have become accustomed to the ability to move data from one application to another through the application's support of ODBC. The PV-WAVE:ODBC Connection Toolkit now available extends this capability to the PV-WAVE product family, providing customers with full Level 1 compliance as well as support for important Level 2 extensions. These extensions include being able to access data via queries as well as row/column matrix addressing. The support of ODBC will help expand the utilization of PV-WAVE by providing direct links to popular applications such as Excel, Access, Oracle and a number of others.
"The rapid acceptance of PV-WAVE running on Windows 95 and NT along with the significant growth in this installed base has caused VNI to begin to respond to the unique requirements of these environments," states Margaret Journey, PV-WAVE Product Manager. "While currently only a small portion of the total PV-WAVE installed base, the Windows operating system environment represents the fastest growing segment of our business. The ODBC Toolkit development is a direct result of responding to customer's needs and requirements. VNI places a high priority on customer service and support, so that the only question relative to ODBC support was when. We are proud to be able to respond with an ODBC Toolkit package which we believe will meet not only current requirements, but anticipates the next level of customer needs as well."
Pricing
The ODBC Toolkit for PV-WAVE is available for $495.
