Nokia and SFR sign a billion franc GSM agreement in France

HELSINKI, Finland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 28, 1996--Nokia Telecommunications and SFR, Societe Francaise du Radiotelephone, have signed a one billion French Franc supply agreement until the end of 1998 for the supply of GSM infrastructure. Under this supply agreement, Nokia will deliver to SFR base stations, base station controllers, operation systems and network implementation, optimization and maintenance related services. The first order placed under this agreement is valued at 400 million French Francs.
Nokia has been delivering GSM infrastructure to SFR since October, 1993.

Nokia is a world leader in digital GSM/DCS cellular networks, and to date Nokia's GSM/DCS technology has been supplied or ordered by 53 operators in 31 countries.
