Business Wire, Nov 4, 1996

OREM, UTAH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 4, 1996--Vinca Corporation, the leading supplier of data protection products including the StandbyServer product family, and Tech Data, the premier networking distributor, today announced they have signed a worldwide distribution agreement.

This agreement was signed in response to the growing demand for Vinca's high-availability products from value-added resellers and solution providers.

"Tech Data is the leader in distribution of networking products and solutions," said Alan Rudd, president, Vinca Corporation. "This agreement allows us to leverage Tech Data's vast resources and expertise in sales and technical support for the mutual benefit of our resellers."

Vinca's line of data protection products include:

- StandbyServer for NetWare, NT and OS/2 Warp

- Entry-Level StandbyServer for NetWare

- SnapShotServer for NetWare

"Data protection is one of the most critical needs for any network today," said Roy Appelbaum, vice president of Product Marketing, Tech Data's Network Division. "We are pleased to give VARs and solution providers the opportunity to purchase the complete line of Vinca products through Tech Data."

StandbyServer is a high-availability, mirroring solution that allows a hot, standby machine to automatically assume operations of a failed server, providing customers continuous access to their valuable data. Users experience virtually no downtime, no loss of data and no need to reattach to the network.

Data is mirrored between the two servers to create a fully redundant system, protecting users against both hardware and software failures. In addition, the servers do not have to be identical and can be located in different cities and the standby machine can be used for other network services.

Entry-Level StandbyServer, based on StandbyServer 2.0 for NetWare, is specifically designed for workgroups and small office environments with 25 users or less. Entry-Level offers customers data reliability and data protection, including many of the features of StandbyServer 2.0 at an affordable price.

SnapShotServer, an add-on module to StandbyServer, facilitates the on-line backup of open files and live databases while maintaining complete fault tolerance. Working with your backup utility, SnapShotServer operates on the standby machine so backups can happen at anytime without affecting users. SnapShotServer is ideal for customers with databases, mission-critical applications, or 7-by-24 operations.
