AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 6, 1996--Pervasive Software, Inc., a leading provider of client/server database solutions, today announced a strategic relationship with the ACCPAC INTERNATIONAL division of Computer Associates, Inc. (CA) to bundle version 6.15 of the Btrieve Client/Server Database Engine with the ACCPAC for Windows System Manager 2.0.

Btrieve, already an accounting industry standard for reliability, performance and low maintenance operation, will be delivered with ACCPAC for Windows beginning in October 1996. ACCPAC customers will receive an accounting package that delivers full client/server capabilities with streamlined installation and administration for both Windows NT and NetWare operating environments.

The bundling agreement also enrolls CA in Pervasive's Manufacturing Partner program, enabling CA and its channel partners to offer "one-stop" shopping to customers and deliver a fully integrated, high-performance accounting solution to end users.

The arrangement further underscores Pervasive's commitment to the concept of "Client/Server In A Box," that empowers high-volume independent software vendors (ISVs) such as ACCPAC INTERNATIONAL to build mass-market client/server applications with reliable embedded database technology.

The newly integrated Btrieve/ACCPAC for Windows product will deliver improved performance over previous standalone versions of the ACCPAC software along with Windows DLL requesters, 32-bit client support for Windows 95 and NT, and Pervasive's ODBC Interface, allowing ODBC compliant tools and applications full access to Btrieve data.
