Informix Awarded Database Software Contract BY MCI; Informix Database Selected As One of MCI's Corporate Standards

MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 6, 1996--Informix Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:IFMX), the leading provider of innovative database technology, today announced that its database software has been selected by MCI Communications Corp. as one of its standard operating environments.
The multi-million dollar contract gives Informix, the world's number two database vendor, a major win in the highly competitive telecommunications market.
The full range of Informix software and services, including its Dynamic Scalable Architecture(TM) database products, INFORMIX(R)-Universal Server object-relational database, New Era(TM) software development tools, consulting services and support services, will be used in future technology deployments by MCI.

As part of its contract with MCI, Informix will build an on-site competency center at MCI to help tune and test applications that will run with the Informix database software.
