Enterprise Solutions' DMS User Agent and infrastructure software completes GOSIP testing

Business Wire, Nov 6, 1996

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 6, 1996-- Enterprise Solutions Limited, a leading provider of messaging and directory service solutions for government and commercial enterprises, announced that its Windows User Agent (UA), Message Transfer Agent (MTA) and Directory System Agent (DSA) have completed GOSIP and DMS protocol conformance testing.

This is a major landmark for the DMS program because it validates software offerings at every level of the DMS architecture.

According to Wayne DeLoria, Enterprise Solutions' newly appointed director of government systems, this landmark should build confidence for those selecting EXM as their end-to-end DMS solution.

"Completion of GOSIP testing on the DMS infrastructure is a confirmation that Enterprise Solutions is offering a complete standards-based writer to reader environment," DeLoria said. "DISA's vision is shared by Enterprise Solutions."

The User Agent (EXM/UA-DMS) and Message Store from Enterprise Solutions have completed P772 and P42 conformance testing. As part of the company's commitment to provide a complete end-to-end DMS solution, the User Agent is offered in the DMS contract on the Windows, Motif and Macintosh platforms.

Enterprise Solutions' EXM/MTA-DMS operates not only as a server for DMS user agents, but also as an intermediate and backbone MTA in the DMS infrastructure. The MTA has completed testing for X.400 P1, ROSE, RTS and lower layer protocols. This marks completion of protocol conformance testing for the entire DMS Message Transfer System (MTS).

Enterprise Solutions is the sole provider of infrastructure software for the DMS Message Transfer System.

The same EXM/MTA that successfully completed GOSIP testing will function as a Subordinate MTA (SMTA) to communicate with client User Agents and message stores; an Intermediate MTA (IMTA) to connect large DMS installations to the backbone; and a Backbone MTA (BMTA) to form the core of the messaging system and connect DMS to the Internet and allied systems.

The Directory System Agent (DSA), for which Enterprise Solutions is also the sole DMS provider, has completed conformance testing for the Directory Access Protocol (DAP) and Directory Shadow Protocol (DSP). EXM/DSA-DMS will maintain and manage access to information on the anticipated 2 million users in DMS' X.500 directory.

This will include contact information such as e-mail addresses and telephone numbers, but also the public and private keys needed to validate DMS users' identities and authorization levels. This marks completion of conformance testing for the entire DMS Global Directory Service.
