Business Wire, Oct 15, 1996
REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 1996--It just got a whole lot easier to publish and consume documents on the World Wide Web. Tumbleweed Software Corporation today announced that its Envoy ActiveX(TM) control is now included in the retail version of the Microsoft(R) Internet Explorer Starter Kit. The Internet Explorer Starter Kit is also included as part of new retail versions of the Microsoft Windows(R) 95 operating system. Envoy formatted documents are ideal for Internet distribution and consumption because they preserve the content, page layout, fonts, and graphics of any document in an extremely compact format -- regardless of what application was used to create the original document. Now users of Internet Explorer can quickly and easily view Envoy documents.
"Internet Explorer and ActiveX technology make browsing the Internet truly interactive," said David Fester, Internet Explorer product manager in the Internet platform and tools division at Microsoft Corporation. "Tumbleweed has taken advantage of ActiveX technology and we're excited to include the Envoy ActiveX control in the Internet Explorer Starter Kit."
The Internet Explorer Starter Kit is scheduled to be available today in retail stores for approximately $24.95.
Tumbleweed's Envoy ActiveX control complements Tumbleweed's family of electronic publishing tools, including Tumbleweed Publishing Essentials and Tumbleweed's Envoy plug-ins and viewers. For further information, visit the Tumbleweed web site at http://www.tumbleweed.com.
