Business Wire, Oct 16, 1996
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 16, 1996--Pacific Gas and Electric Company today appointed Katheryn M. Fong, 50, to the position of vice president customer services, and Leslie H. Everett, 45, to the position of vice president and corporate secretary.
Fong's and Everett's appointments are effective November 1.
Fong will be responsible for a wide variety of customer support functions, including service planning, call center operations, field service improvements, billing and payment processing.
"We are delighted that Kathy Fong has accepted the position of vice president of customer services," said PG&E CEO and Chairman Stanley T. Skinner.
"Ms. Fong brings to the job an exceptionally strong customer services background acquired through more than 18 years in the airline, banking and telecommunications industries. During the past two years she has done an outstanding job managing the company's Call Center operations and has been instrumental in helping to ensure that the centers provide the kind of responsive service that PG&E customers expect and deserve," he said.
Fong succeeds Lendrith L. Jackson, 53, who is taking an extended leave from the company for health reasons. Jackson will continue to serve as a consultant on customer service and support issues.
"We regret that for health reasons Len Jackson will no longer be able to continue in his current role as vice president of customer services. However, we are pleased that he will still be available as a consultant to provide the company with the experience and insight he gained during his 24-years with PG&E in various customer services positions and as a division manager," said Skinner.
Fong attended San Francisco State University, where she earned bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees in international relations. Fong served on the San Francisco Human Rights Commission from 1992 through 1995. She is also a member of the Asian Business League.
Commenting on the appointment of Everett to vice president, Skinner noted that, "The promotion of Leslie Everett recognizes the excellent work she has done since becoming corporate secretary in 1993. And it also reflects her increased responsibility for various corporate initiatives, including her role as project manager in formulating the company's plan for divestiture of at least 50 percent of its natural gas and oil fueled power plants in compliance with the California Public Utilities Commission's electric industry restructuring plan."
Everett received a bachelor of arts degree in environmental studies from the University of California at Los Angeles. She is also a graduate of Stanford University's Sloan School of Management Executive Development Program.
