Axel Johnson Completes Sale of Axel Johnson Metals and Titanium Hearth Technologies

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 1996--Axel Johnson Inc. has completed the previously announced sale of substantially all of the assets of Axel Johnson Metals Inc., including its 50 percent interest in Titanium Hearth Technologies (THT), to Titanium Metals Corporaton (TIMET) of Denver, Colorado. The price was $90 million in cash.
Axel Johnson Metals and THT have facilities in Pennsylvania, Nevada and Colorado.
TIMET has hired all of the personnel of Axel Johnson Metals. According to Paul E. Graf, chief executive of Axel Johnson Inc., the proceeds will be reinvested in Axel Johnson Inc.'s core businesses.
Axel Johnson Inc., headquartered in Stamford, operates businesses focused on: environmental products, telecommunications, energy and industrial products. The company has nearly 2,000 employees in plants and offices throughout the United States.
