LinkAge Announces New Enterprise Message Switch Built on Microsoft Exchange Server and Windows NT Server
Business Wire, Oct 28, 1996
TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 28, 1996--LinkAge Software, Inc., the leading supplier of enterprise messaging connectivity solutions, today announced LinkAge Message Exchange, a robust enterprise message switch that delivers enterprise-wide connectivity, integrated directory services and sophisticated administration and management tools for heterogeneous environments.
The product, which is tightly integrated with Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft Windows NT Server, is also the first messaging system to extend the reach of Microsoft technology into all IBM and Lotus environments.
LinkAge Message Exchange (LME) allows corporations to connect users and integrate the directory services and management of most messaging systems, including Microsoft Mail and Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes and Lotus cc:Mail, SMTP/MIME, X.400, IBM OfficeVision/VM, IBM OfficeVision/MVS, IBM OfficeVision/400, Verimation MEMO, Fischer International TAO and other host-based messaging systems that are compliant with SNA Distribution Services (SNADS). By delivering the technology necessary to integrate these disparate environments, LME establishes a robust and reliable messaging infrastructure for the deployment of additional applications or migration to new client/server or Intra/Internet systems.
According to Bob Jull, president of LinkAge, "Corporate messaging environments are becoming more and more complex. Connecting people -- and applications -- on different platforms, in different cities, and even at different companies is critical in today's business environment. But companies don't want to start from scratch, and they don't want to wipe out their entire IS budget.
"They want reliable, manageable, scalable messaging solutions that fit their existing network and communications systems. LinkAge designed just such a product: a messaging switch that connects a wide variety of leading messaging systems, while operating on inexpensive PC platforms in conjunction with Microsoft Exchange Server and other BackOffice components."
LME provides four Connectors that extend the reach of Microsoft Exchange into all IBM and Lotus environments. These Connectors -- the Microsoft Exchange-Notes Connector (the world's first direct messaging connection between Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes), Microsoft Exchange-cc:Mail Connector, Microsoft Exchange-SNADS Connector, and the Microsoft Exchange-OfficeVision/VM Connector -- can all be configured and managed from within the Microsoft Exchange Administrator user interface.
LME is also tightly integrated with other components of the Microsoft BackOffice family of server applications; it is, in fact, the only messaging switch to have earned the "Designed for Microsoft BackOffice" logo.
