CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 29, 1996--

New Technology provides real time full-screen,

full-motion video over the Internet

Effective today, Vosaic's adaptive audio/video streaming software, VOSAIC-X, will be included with Microsoft's ActiveX application in all Internet Explorer Starter Kits as well as Windows 95.

For the first time, users of Windows will be able to experience real-time, full-motion video on-demand, streaming across the Internet into a user's PC screen.

"We are very enthusiastic about the true video on-demand features offered by Microsoft's latest technologies and our VOSAIC-X embodiment in the Internet Explorer Software Kit," said Stuart Johnstone, CEO of Chicago-based Vosaic LLC, in announcing the relationship with Microsoft Corp.

Vosaic, or Video Mosaic, technology provides the constant, uninterrupted transport of video over the network by virtue of its unique VDP (Video Datagram Protocol) end-to-end signaling system. The system preserves and enhances the available network bandwidth, resulting in full-motion, full-screen video and audio across Internet/Intranets with a choice of standards, including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, Motion JPEG and H.263 for video and G.723; MP2 and MP3 for audio.

"We are pleased to see VOSAIC-X is included in the Internet Explorer Software Kit in both Windows 95 and our retail product," said David Fester, Internet Explorer Product Manager in the Internet Platform & Tools Division of Microsoft Corp. "Because VOSAIC-X component is built on our ActiveX technology, publishers using VOSAIC-X can provide their users with a dynamic and fresh audio/video experience. In addition, the ability to automatically upgrade VOSAIC-X virtually every time a user logs into a Vosaic server site is a powerful concept for both corporate and home computing".

This new client netware is a combination of Microsoft Windows 95, Internet Explorer, ActiveX, the DirectX set of APIs with VOSAIC-X, enabling full scale video to be instantly brought to the user's PC. The interactive audio/video stream may be called up on demand from a Vosaic AV Server with a Windows NT Server operating system.

"VOSAIC has made the promise of interactive TV a reality," said Chuck Colby, COO of VOSAIC. "Applications ranging from interactive education and financial news to corporate training and entertainment will all be available to those who have been waiting for video interactivity."

VOSAIC was founded to develop and commercialize Internet/Intranet technologies which arose out of the University of Illinois' Systems Research Group. VOSAIC, or Video Mosaic, was developed to stream video and audio more efficiently across IP networks by implementing the proprietary end-to-end signal processing system called VDP.

VOSAIC-X can be tested immediately by logging into Vosaic's home page at: (http://www.Vosaic.com) using the Internet Explorer web browser.

Vosaic, LLC is headquartered in Chicago, with a West Coast office in Los Angeles. Vosaic markets to OEMs, distributors, VAR/integrators and to Web developers directly over the Web.
