Control Data Systems chooses Trend Micro virus protection for new security suite, virus protection for enterprisewide electronic mail
Business Wire, Oct 3, 1996
CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 3, 1996--Trend Micro Inc. today announced a licensing agreement with Control Data Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CDAT) by which Control Data will integrate Trend Micro's InterScan VirusWall(TM) technology into a new enterprise-wide security solutions suite it has developed for clients worldwide.
Trend Micro's InterScan VirusWall(TM) technology scans for viruses in Internet e-mail and FTP and HTTP traffic and warns senders, receivers, and network administrators after viruses are found. It has a low overhead, quick installation and full feature set that automates administration and alerts the recipient, system administrator and sender of the virus.
Control Data plans to integrate InterScan VirusWall as a critical virus management element of its Rialto Security suite, a new service designed to provide comprehensive protection for electronic business communications at the enterprise level. Rialto Security is geared for large business and government organizations with complex, heterogeneous computing environments. Other components of the suite include: message, intrusion, and public key management.
Trend Micro's InterScan VirusWall technology offers a high level of centrally maintained virus detection. It scans both UUENCODE and MIME formatted InterScan attachments as well as most compressed files, and catches thousands of viruses, including the new macro viruses.
"There's a growing need for virus protection that can be implemented at the enterprise level," explained Dave Folsom, vice president, Electronic Commerce Solutions for Control Data. "With its InterScan VirusWall Trend Micro has the experience and technology to protect our clients from Internet-borne viruses."
"Corporate customers are demanding and deserve top-notch virus protection to keep their workstations clean of InterScan virus infections. Our technology, integrated into Control Data solutions, will provide the early detection that is so critical in preventing damage from virus contamination," said Eva Chen, Trend Micro's chief technology officer. "As a leader in Internet and Intranet virus protection, we're proud to work with Control Data, a leader in electronic messaging. Together we can provide safe and efficient communications that are essential to the enterprise."
