Tekelec Announces ISO 9001 Registration

Calabasas, CA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--October 3, 1996--Tekelec (Nasdaq/NM: TKLC) announced today that its Network Switching Division (NSD), located in Morrisville, NC, has been awarded ISO 9001 registration. The ISO 9001 audit, performed by Bellcore's Quality Registration Services Audit Team included a comprehensive study of documentation as well as on-site surveys of procedures, and interviews with Tekelec staff. In addition to meeting all the requirements of ISO 9001 registration, NSD also met or surpassed the guidelines outlined in ISO 9000-3, which governs software providers.

ISO 9000, an international standard for quality management systems, applies a Total Quality Management approach combined with documentation to help companies better manage their quality process.

Tekelec's Quality System has demonstrated the ability to provide processes to design, develop, manufacture, install, and service a quality product every time. With the growth of the global marketplace, achieving ISO 9001 registration allows Tekelec to use its quality system as a competitive advantage. Additionally, Tekelec will continue to use the ISO 9001 standards as a tool to baseline its processes and improve its product and services.
