Rick George, Suncor president and chief executive officer, announced today that Edythe A. (Dee) Parkinson, group executive vice president, oil sands and shale, is leaving Suncor to become president of CS Resources.

"Dee made an extraordinary contribution during the five years she was with Suncor," says George. "We are sorry to see her go." George credits Parkinson with turning around Suncor's oil sands plant. Under her leadership, costs at the plant dropped nearly $5 a barrel and production rose 30 percent.

Ashar, who has been with Suncor for nine years, assumes the role of executive vice president, Oil Sands Group. He reports to George and becomes a member of Suncor's senior management committee. In the five years Ashar has run Suncor's 70,000 barrel-a-day refinery, he has turned it into one of the most flexible and competitive refineries in Canada. "The oil sands plant has a strong management team." says George. "I'm confident they will continue to build on the plant's success."
