Delivering more power in Windows NT server environments; Intergraph Upgrades InterServe 6XX Servers To Highest Level of Enterprise Performance
Business Wire, Sept 13, 1996
HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 1996--Intergraph Computer Systems (ICS) today announced that all of its Intel Pentium Pro processor-based InterServe 6XX general enterprise servers have been upgraded with more cache RAM and greater scalability. This gives enterprise customers even better performance and more room for future growth in the Windows NT environment for database, application, and file/print server tasks.
The InterServe 610 and 620 are now available with up to four 200MHz Pentium Pro processors with 256KB cache and up to 1GB of memory; previously, these models came with one or two Pentium Pro processors running at 150MHz with 256KB cache. The InterServe 630 and 640 are available with up to four 200MHz Pentium Pro processors with 512KB cache, up from the previous 200MHz/256KB cache configuration. The InterServe 650 and 660, available with up to four 200MHz Pentium Pro processors and 512KB cache, is also designed for up to 4GB maximum memory and up to 1TB of storage for demanding, mission-critical computing tasks.
"Intergraph is the first server vendor to deliver a broad range of very powerful, scalable enterprise-class servers with configurations that IT managers need for demanding client-server environments," said Wade Patterson, president of Intergraph Computer Systems. "The additional cache is particularly important, since multiple-Pentium Pro systems work more efficiently when they can get data from the cache instead of having to go to main memory."
The increase in performance will benefit any enterprise with data intensive tasks and applications, such as on-line transaction processing, database servers, and Windows NT application servers.
"The scalability of these servers is also crucial to IT managers who need to plan for future growth as well as present needs," said Lee Hanson, Executive Product Director of ICS Server Division. "With the ability to add processors as needed, enterprises can buy what they need now, knowing that they can add processing power in the future as demands on their systems grow."
All the InterServe 6XX servers are designed with Intergraph's Windows NT expertise. Intergraph, the first hardware vendor to focus fully on Windows NT development, can offer solutions for implementing and/or migrating to Windows NT-based networking.
Additionally, the InterServe servers come with a full complement of standard and optional features, including high-availability fault-tolerant backup, RAID systems, system management software, and complete solutions for connecting to networks. And the InterServe product family is backed by Intergraph's unparalleled service and support, including more than 1,500 highly trained technicians worldwide.
