Wynd Communications To Support New Microsoft Windows Ce Platform For Handheld Pc
Business Wire, Sept 16, 1996
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 16, 1996--Wynd Communications Corp., a leading two-way wireless messaging service provider, today announced support for the Microsoft(R) Windows(R) CE platform, a new operating system for the handheld PC device.
Wynd Communications' planned product support for the new Microsoft platform will provide handheld PC users with the most advanced and dependable service for exchanging wireless messages while mobile.
"Mobile professionals using wireless messaging services have been hesitant to migrate from their laptops to handheld PC's partly because they haven't wanted to learn a new operating system," says King R. Lee, CEO of Wynd Communications. "Since Microsoft's handheld PC platform has a Windows 95-based user interface, there is little for users to learn. We feel that this user familiarity coupled with strong communications tools, such as Wynd's wireless messaging service, will undoubtedly help expand the handheld PC and wireless data markets."
"We are pleased to have Wynd Communications supporting our Windows CE platform and planning product support and service for this new product category of handheld PC's," said Jon Magill, Director of Marketing, Consumer Appliances Group, Microsoft Corporation.
