Business Wire, Sept 16, 1996
GREENWICH, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 16, 1996--River Run Software Group(R) today eagerly announced its support for the new Windows(R) CE product, the new Microsoft(R) open, portable and compact Windows platform for PC-integrated consumer electronics.
The Windows CE platform brings the powerful world of Microsoft Windows to the market for small handheld devices.
Since communications between handheld devices and desktops is critical, and River Run Software Group has extensive experience in this area, River Run has been working with Microsoft and plans to develop a family of intelligent e-mail and database access products for Windows CE. These products will support communications over dial-up and packet wireless networks, as well as direct connection between Windows CE-based handhelds and Windows-based desktops.
"We are very excited about having our planned products available for this new Microsoft platform," said Taffy Holliday, executive vice president at River Run. "We will be able to extend the power of our Windows 95-based products down to small, portable handheld devices with no changes in functionality. There will be virtually no learning curve for our customers to remotely access their e-mail and corporate databases from Windows CE devices. Windows CE provides users with unlimited access to their Windows-based desktops at anytime from anywhere."
"We are pleased to have River Run Software supporting our Windows CE platform," said Jon Magill, Director of Marketing, Consumer Appliances Group, Microsoft Corp. "Their planned development of communications products will further add valuable technology support to the handheld PC."
