Business Wire, Sept 16, 1996
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 16, 1996-- Communication Intelligence Corporation (CIC) (NASDAQ:CICI) announced today its support for the Microsoft Windows CE operating system. The company is developing pen based software products for Microsoft's new operating system for handheld PC companion devices. CIC's planned offerings include next generation pen input technologies designed for the unique requirements of handheld devices which have minimal memory, modest processing power, and small surface areas. CIC intends to license these software solutions to manufacturers that use Microsoft's new platform.
"CIC sees the Microsoft entry into the handheld computing market as a major turning point for the industry," said Jeff Dao, Vice President of Marketing and Sales CIC. "Devices based on this new operating system will offer users a solution for taking their desktop computer documents, organizers, and communications anywhere. Such devices will require unique solutions to maximize their ease of use and utility. We believe our technologies such as handwriting recognition, signature verification, and electronic ink compression will make these devices even easier to use and more attractive to consumers. We are pleased to be working with Microsoft in supporting its new platform and the handheld PC."
"We are pleased to have Communication Intelligence Corporation supporting our Windows CE based platform," said Jon Magill, Director of Marketing, Consumer Appliances, Microsoft Corporation. "CIC's planned pen based product development further exhibits the potential for the handheld PC."
