Business Wire, Sept 18, 1996
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 1996--NeTpower, the only workstation and server company solely focused on the Windows NT environment, today announced it plans to include Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 in its high-performance Calisto and Symetra workstations and Sparta servers.
Utilizing Windows NT 4.0, NeTpower will offer Windows NT computing solutions that provide customers with unsurpassed ease of use, multi-processor scalability, higher network throughput, and new Internet and Intranet capabilities.
"Windows NT 4.0 is propelling the NT environment into mainstream client/server computing," said Bob Miller, CEO and chairman of NeTpower. "With the release of Windows NT 4.0, NT is becoming the platform of choice."
NeTpower, in preparation to migrate to this new operating system, received its Hardware Compatibility Lab (HCL) certification from Microsoft for Windows NT 4.0 in July 1996. The company has performed extensive compatibility and reliability tests on both workstation and server product lines with a variety of applications and peripherals to ensure NeTpower solutions are fully compatible with Windows NT 4.0.
"Our comprehensive testing and HCL certification enables us to continue to offer our customers the reliable, compatible NT solutions they have come to expect from us," said David Ludvigson, president of NeTpower.
To help customers make a smooth transition, NeTpower will continue to offer and support Windows NT 3.5.1 while phasing in Windows NT 4.0 on all its high-performance product lines. Customers migrating to Windows NT 4.0 can take advantage of the upgrade either through NeTpower directly or through direct fulfillment by Microsoft.
NeTpower offers all systems with Windows NT Workstation or Server pre-installed, configured and tested. NeTpower expects all products to ship standard with Windows NT 4.0 pre-installed in the fourth quarter.
