NovaStor announces NovaDisk for Windows 95 and NT; free demo downloads from Web-fully featured backup software for logical storage devices

Business Wire, Sept 19, 1996

SIMI VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 19, 1996--NovaStor Corp. announced NovaDisk for Windows 95 and Windows NT workstation, a full-featured backup software for disk drives.

Designed to run with all logical storage devices, NovaDisk can convert any removable disk drive into a true high performance backup solution. NovaDisk can also be used to backup a hard disk to another hard disk across any network offering speed, reliability, security and confidence. NovaDisk supports Windows 95 and the new Windows NT Workstation 4.0, combining the ease of use of Windows 95 with the reliability and security of Windows NT Workstation.

NovaDisk is not just a "copy" program, but operates as a true backup software program with automatic data verify, unattended scheduled backup, password security and uses the industry standard STAC data compression. The really good news comes when you restore data, for any file can now be restored almost instantaneously no matter where the data is stored. Now there is no waiting for a tape to fast forward or rewind.

"We believe that NovaDisk for Windows 95 and Window NT will revolutionize the way people think of backup," said Peter Means, president of NovaStor. "Until now, if you wanted to back up a large amount of data, you used magnetic tape with all its inherent limitations. However, tape was reliable and would store a great deal of data, especially if the data was compressed.

"You could also schedule the backup at a time when the workplace was not affected. With NovaDisk, you can now add all these features to any logical storage device, such as floppies, hard disks, flopticals and those exciting new secondary storage devices from Syquest and Iomega. NovaDisk gives users greatly improved disk storage utilization with software compression, and a major performance increase for both the backup and restore function."

NovaDisk for Windows 95 and Windows NT has also been designed with full disaster recovery capabilities as found in NovaStor's tape backup software. This is accomplished with NovaStor's tried and tested NovaBoot boot disk utility. NovaBoot lets the user create a "boot disk" on their backup device for the disk drive they are backing up.

If a disaster occurs and the main data disk crashes or is erased, the restore function can quickly and simply be accomplished; as all the information that makes this data unique including the BAT and INI files are on the NovaBoot boot disk, saving hours of reconfiguration and restore time. This is an enormous savings in down time and man hours.

NovaDisk has been designed to work with both Windows 95 and Windows NT. It is also part of new "Microsoft Designed for Windows 95 and Windows NT Workstation" logo program which will provide a way for users to quickly identify applications that are compatible with both operating systems.
